Born from Passion
C. Scott Elliott (President of CSI Inc.) While building residential homes he realized his passion for energy efficiency, energy savings, recycling practices and environment sustainability. With this passion he built two energy efficient homes in the lynchburg area. One of which is the areas first platinum EarthCraft home and the other is a silver LEED certified home. This network was intially founded with the vision of bringing to Lynchburg a USGBC branch.
We Work to Meet Our Mission with a 3 Phase Approach
Networking: We have created the CVSN network by identifying individuals, groups and organizations who are truly leaders in sustainable and environmentally responsible planning, design, construction and operation of the area's buildings, landscapes, cities and communities.
Organization: Requires getting our CVSN network of like-minded business and organizations working toward the same goal, a sustainable community. We seek to provide educational and promotional opportunities with in our region. A governing board and standing committees, make up the structure of the organization while the programs are primarily volunteer driven. This allows us to divide the workload and clearly define responsibilities, in an effort to build consensus and cooperation among our networks stakeholders.
Promotion: Our goal is to promote a positive image for local sustainable living. Not just "talking" about how to live sustainably but giving citizens the resources and the connections they need to truly make a difference in their individual lives and in the community as a whole. These educational opportunities, publications and expos will improve consumer confidence and will encourage individuals and businesses to make investments towards a sustainable community.
